Thanks, Scott! I am happy not having been complitely out of the row and I also had difficulties to separate the 2 mentioned species.

Further to my previous comment, here a female (photo # 5) P. blanfordanus http://westernghatherpetofauna.blogspot.... Still, I couldn't say for certain which, so I'd go with rock agama, Psammophilus sp.

Psammophilus sp. Range of the two species (Psammophilus dorsalis and Psammophilus blanfordanus) overlap: http://maps.iucnredlist.org/map.html?id=... and http://maps.iucnredlist.org/map.html?id=.... Unfortunately images of females of blanfordanus are hard to come by.
