Mexican Robber Fly

Archilestris magnificus

Description:

I saw this huge kind of robber fly, Hanging Thief, landing on a rock 3 meters away. It was realy big with very long legs, 3 or 4 cm tall with a body 4 or 5 cm long. It looked scary. I took some photos at that distance but it flew towards me with a buzz, it passed behind me and stopped in a shrub. I managed to take a couple more photos.

Habitat:

Near a river in a subtropical forest.
