Description:

Found this beautiful flower northwest of Carey, Idaho. Bitter root is the state flower of Montana. Shoshone and Flathead Indians considered the roots a delicacy.

Habitat:

On top of a desert ridgeline growing with sagebrush and tiny perennial grasses.
