Bottlenose Dolphin

Description:

A familiar cetacean growing to just under 3 metres in length (in some areas can reach 4 metres), light or dark grey lighter on belly, some individuals have flecks of dark or light colouring on sides and belly, stocky build, jaw forms a 'beak' with teeth, water dwelling mammal that rises to surface to breath through hole (called a blowhole) in top of head (which is melon-shaped). preferred food includes cuttlefish, squid, small fish, eels.

Habitat:

Found in all waters around Australia including rivers.
