Agree with you craiggrummitt it may not be Eastern carpenter bee, better to awaits further suggestions,
Apart from that you had captured a Spectacular picture of this Bee,,
Actually I don't think it's an eastern carpenter Sachin, unless it migrated to London from the States. I think it might be a bumble bee.
