Phrynosoma hernandezi

Description:

- One row of lateral abdominal fringe scales - Reduced occipital spines directed posteriorly, parallel with temporal spines - Dorsal scales arranged in 6-8 longitudinal rows, rosettes absent or poorly developed.

Habitat:

Desert, rocks, dry & arid. Wide ranging, P. hernandezi is found from southern Alberta, Canada, through Montana, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and into Mexico through northeastern Sonora, Chihuahua, and Durango. Restricted to higher elevations. Until recently, this species was previously included with P. douglasi.
