Black-backed jackal

Canis mesomelas

Description:

Small, foxlike canids which measure 38–48 cm in shoulder height and 68-74.5 cm in length. The general colour is reddish-brown to tan, the back is intermixed with silver and black hairs, while the underparts are white.

Habitat:

Open and arid habitats, though preferring areas with scattered brush

Notes:

I believe the 4th shot shows their den. There were 3 of them and they kept disappearing under this bush.
