Description:

Monotropa uniflora can grow in dark environments because it is not dependent on light for photosynthesis. This plant iis found in rich habitats-- dense rich soiled moist forests with lots of surface leaf litter, often in a situation that is too shaded for autotrophic (photosynthetic) growth.
