Reza, I also think this is a Cooper's Hawk. Liam is our most amazing identifier of birds and he says Cooper's too, so I think it's safe for you to take this spotting off "unknown" and add it's common and scientific names.

Do coops and sharpies get that light? I've never seen one with such light coloring! Very pretty bird, either way!

I have seen this bird 2 times now but, was only able to photograph it this once from afar. It perches deep in the thickets has a peculiar yelp and flies away at the slightest hint of company !

My first impression was that it was a Merlin, but I think I agree with you that it is a Cooper's Hawk. What behavior did you see?

Tough call between Cooper's and Sharp-shinned, but me and most of my friends agree with Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii) based on the wide white tail tip and seemingly pale nape.
