tent caterpillar

Malacosoma sp.

Description:

Awesome little caterpillars. I nearly stuck my hand right in the "tent" on accident and thought it was some kind of huge spider web. I have no idea what species this is though.

Habitat:

Found these tent caterpillars living in the upper branches of an antelope bitterbrush (Purshia tridentata) shrub. Wyoming big sagebrush, rabbitbrush and various grasses and herbs surrounded it.
