Tree that can reach up to 20 m tall, trunk with rough bark gray-brown in color. Leaves yellowish-green, bright. Button flowers reddish, pinkish-white later.
Natural regions of the Midwest, South and Southeast of Brazil where it was very common, pindaíba occurs mainly in the montane forests and the Atlantic rain forest, as well as its namesake family. However, increasingly less frequent in these forests, pindaíba is now a beautiful endangered species
