Trichoglossus haematodus

Notes:

Seen early morning on the Mount Coolum walking track. This lorikeet was grooming itself - in the third shot you can see the amazing colours under its wing.

How funny! It reminds me of spa break I had in England a few years ago - we had a ground floor room with french doors that opened onto the gardens just a few 100 feet from a lake. We used to leave the doors open for some fresh air & the ducks used to wander right in & jump up on the beds! We also caught a squirrel raiding the fruit bowl on morning!

They are funny birds, they're so brazen! When I lived in a unit in Sydney they used to come to the balcony and I would give them apples smeared with honey and powdered lorikeet food... one day I was lying on the lounge and one walked right into the house and sat on the floor next to the lounge squawking at me until I got up and got him his apple!

They are so funny.. We have them here at the moment attacking the vineyard next door.. and when they are to drunk to fly they just drop out of the sky.. Silly birds..
