New Holland Honeyeater

Description:

The New Holland honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae) is a honeyeater species found throughout southern Australia. It is mostly black and white, with a large yellow wing patch and yellow sides on the tail. It has a small white ear patch, a thin white whisker at the base of the bill and a white eye. This little bird was very active feeding on nectar from banksia and eucalyptus. it rarely stayed still and was difficult to photograph!

Habitat:

Native coastal bush, Phillip Island
