Nautilus

Nautilus pompilius,

Description:

Fantastic 'floating' creature. Big shell with orange stripes on white. The bottom of the shell is lighter. It has eyes on the side of the head. Tentacles in front of his 'face'

Habitat:

Deep deep in the warmer oceans, Sometimes seen near the surface. These where in the aquarium in Bangkok :-(

Notes:

I have a love / hate relationship with aquariums , but getting the possibility to see some of these amazing creatures makes me forget the down side of it for a moment.

These beautiful and ancient creatures are endangered because people love their shells so much: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/25/scienc...

Thanks Achmad! Changed it. Thank you Satyen and Alice. When in Bangkok check it out! Beautiful aquarium.

Perfect! But better for Nautilus (not Nautulus) at common name :)
