Robust Staghorn Coral

Acropora robusta

Description:

Low, branching colonies, with branches sprawling in all directions, some vertically, others horizontally and then turning upwards.

Habitat:

Found on coral and rocky reefs, usually in shallow water exposed to strong wave action, at depths of 3 to 15m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

Spotted this coral, which looks to be a newly-developing colony, at a depth of 10m.
