Stinkhorn

Phallaceae

Description:

A fungus growing about 70-80mm high. Pale creamy stem & bright orange top. The stem has a sort of netting over it too, though it's not clear in these pictures. This fungus stinks! There were flies all over it.

Habitat:

Growing in a garden that is mulched with wood-chip, under a Bottlebrush tree (Callistemon sp.)

NOT a morel as has been suggested. This mushroom belongs in the family Phallaceae.
