Funky fungus on mulch. It was in the mid-50's here today, so I was surprised to see this.

Doesn't look like Dung-Loving to me...I think the right direction for this is  a Nidula species, since the Dung-Loving Birds Nest in listed under a genus in which it is not located in Rhode Island. Nevertheless, I think we all can I agree is is some form of Bird's Nest, Nidulariaceae sp.

the striatus looks more white/greyish metallic at the inside, and has horizontale pattern, those from this link ( http://healthyhomegardening.com/Mushroom... ) look more like the above. Maybe it is also just the light, not my call!

Nidula is the most widespread Genus of Bird's Nest Fungi in the Northeastern US

bird nest fungus.(fam. nidulariaceae), but the textures are unfamiliar for me. nice one. nicest species of this family i saw so far. :)
