Spotting

Description:

Bird's nest constructed of twigs & small pieces of polythene in the aperture of a headstone.

Habitat:

Olivet cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee.

Notes:

Possibly a robin's nest as there were many of that species in the cemetery. I'm not entirely sure as it isn't the cup shape that robins usually construct.

Amazing spotting, perfect place to build a nest.

Thanks Ava! I do too - one of the neatest examples I remember seeing was in St James' park in London, where the sparrows had taken up residence in the ornate "galleons" on top on all the lampposts!

I really love spottings of animals using human constructions to live in/on. This is excellent!

I might just check on it if I am in that area Christy!
It's a massive cemetery with several thousand graves so I may not be able to find it again though!

Pretty neat Karen...you'll have to keep us updated if it gets used this spring! (if that is convenient!) ;-)
