Stigmodera macularia
The deeply pitted elytra produce a course texture n this yellow Jewel beetle. With the tea tree flowering on hot summer days the hundreds of different species of tiny jewel beetles mimicking native bees and beetles are out getting drunk on the nectar. The six Stigmodera species are the jewels in the crown of the Buprestidae family and here is the local one.
Specimen supplied by Geoff.

Good luck with the rusty brown one -looks interesting too. It seem so strange that something that lives off nectar should be so "tough' looking. I suppose it's protective.
I've been looking for this one for a while... and then Geoff found it!
There is still one more Victorian rusty brown Stigmodera species on the bucket list.
