Very small "patch" (see 3rd photo) of unknown origin. An arthropodian structure -- an egg mass or casing -- or something else?
Found on the frond stalk of a coconut palm (Cocos nucifera), growing in a large semi-urban yard & garden near a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest.

Nice spot - maybe some sort of leaf gall? Very interesting pattern.
