Rodolia cardinalis

Description:

Red ladybug with black markings on elytra, pronotum and head. There is no white on this beetle. The spots on the elytra are one in the middle with a black stripe that extends from this spot to a horizontal stripe near the rear end. There are also black spots near each "corner".

Habitat:

Orange tree leaf in backyard at sunset. Habitat: "Acacia, boxwood, citrus, magnolia, Nandina, olive, Pittosporum, and rose - all species attacked by cottony cushion scale." - BugGuide

Notes:

According to BugGuide, these were introduced from Australia and are "mostly restricted to CA and FL, but other scattered southern records"
