Description:

Staring eyeballs on a stick.
Each one is about 1.5mm wide. Maybe 30-40 total.

Habitat:

On the tip of a stem of black wattle (Acacia mearnsii) in a local nature reserve.

I couldn't find any reasonable alternatives (although that's not very scientific of me). The images on Peter Chew's site are a (near) perfect match to these and shows them hatching. http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...
