Hairy lentinus

Lentinus levis

Large, cream colored mushrooms growing out of the tree wound of a box elder tree (I think?). Gills are decurrent. The largest mushroom was around 10 inch diameter. Smells pleasantly sweet and slightly of anise. This is an aged specimen.

Growing out of a box elder tree wound in a dense mixed hardwood forest.
