Tiger Moth

Arachnis sp

Description:

About 4.5cm long. Light brown/tan colouration with white markings, and a small red spot behind the head. It must've been laying eggs on the branch of the pine tree where I found it (picture 3).

Habitat:

Wooded area at about 2400 meters above sea level.

I would go with A. zuni, because the patterns especially on the forewings. The last pattern on the ends of both forewings match very much.

Thanks for the ID, Ornithoptera80! How sure are you? For this area A. dilecta is also an option, and they are visually very similar.
