Lesser or Greater Grapevine Looper Moth

Description:

Family: Geometridae, Subfamily: Larentiinae (Carpet and Pug Moths). WIngspan 28-33 mm. Pale orange Fw is crossed by fine brown lines. Inner median area if often tinted lilac. Midpoint of PM line forms a long outward-pointing spike. (Greater often has brown shading on wings.) Often too similar to distinguish between the two.

Habitat:

Wherever host plant is found... Grape and Virginia creeper. Woodlands/meadow edge. Came to light.
