Description:

These butterflies walk on 4 legs only, the first pair is poorly developed. The wings are transparent.

Habitat:

Central America, Caribbean islands, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyanas, Brasil. Typically in mountainous areas, cloud forests, tepuis etc.

Notes:

I spotted this butterfly in an orchid garden in the Netherlands.

Greta cubana is an endemic species to Cuba and I can't really imagine that this species would be found in a butterfly house in The Netherlands. I think it is the most commonl found species Greta morgane oto or formerly called Greta oto. The actual taxon is Greta morgane oto.
