Pipra mentalis
This small bird is found thru Central America to Ecuador and Colombia. It measures 10 cm. and weighs 16 grams. Males are very colorful and females are olive green to blend in the nest so predators won´t find them.... Males are so colorful are suppose to distract the predator. The adult male has the top, sides and back of the head scarlet, bright yellow and thighs. The chin and the lining of the wings are pale yellow, and the rest of the plumage is black. The iris is white, the maxilla is light horn colored, and jaw and legs are flesh colored. The female is dull olive green above and in the chest, and has the throat and abdomen lighter. The thighs are yellowish, and sometimes have a few red feathers on the head
