Lanius cristatus
Nice compact-looking shrike with velvet-brown crown. Beak is yellow at base with black tip. Breast is plain white, black eye mask, back is plain brown. Alert posture and head constantly swivelling to follow potential prey. Fun sighting as he gave me lots of time to watch him. Unfortunately I never saw him catch anything and add it to a larder, which I would love to see!
Very common shrike in this region in gardens, overgrown lots etc. This one was seen in a vacant lot behind the house we were staying at in Sihanoukville last weekend.
Photo 3 shows a different individual with a stronger white supercilium and lighter brown on the crown.

Thanks Jean, I added another photo of a different individual that shows the whole body and tail. A bit far away and fuzzy, but it does add some information to the spotting!
Great spotting!
