Orange Sulfur

Description:

The Orange Sulfur is an orange or faded yellow butterfly with a pink edged wing with pink dots. Their family is called Pieridae (peer-i-dee). They eat nectar from dandelion, milkweed, goldenrod & asters. Their range is from southern Canada all the way to central Mexico except for the Florida peninsula. This beautiful butterfly usually lives in fields, open lots & meadows. A scientific name for this flying critter is a Colias Eurytheme. They are confused with the Clouded Sulfur. If they are found in the middle of the United states up to Alaska they are most likely a clouded Sulfur. To tell the difference from a male to a female you must see if it has a faded wing color or brighter. A faded color means it is a female. a darker means it is a male. Brighter color will most likely mean it is a clouded Sulfur.
