Postia ptychogaster

Postia ptychogaster?

Description:

A patch about 15cm squared of this fungus grew at the base of a short needled coniferous species in mixed woodland. The close up in second photo shows a section of the fruitbody between 2 and 3cm across. It appeared to be growing on coniferous twigs and needles, it tasted a little sour like Paxillus involutus. Perhaps an uncommon but widespread find in the UK; https://data.nbn.org.uk/Taxa/NHMSYS00014...
