A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Scaptotrigona pectoralis
Very small bee, almost the size o a sweat bee, around 5 mm from head to abdomen. Orange. This photos were taken around 7:30 in the morning. Nest was in a cavity of a live tree Delonix regia or flamboyan an introduced tree from Madagascar. I am sorry that when a better camera came to my hands bees had gone.
It was in the garden of the Campus for Biological and agronomical sciences at Universidad Autonoma de Yucatan.
20 km south from Merida City. Polinator is a very important part of biodiversity.

ufff, estas son bien agresivas. Aunque no pican suelen enredarse en el pelo y morder la piel
