Thanks Karen! The caves we've been to have small to medium size (in the hundreds) colonies. So far we haven encountered large (in the thousands) colonies yet, we hope to though! :-0

wiki - They emit echolocation calls through these (nose-leaf) structures, which may serve to focus the sound.
