Buteo jamaicensis
Large juvenile red-tailed hawk. Very light/white underbelly/ dark brown back. Stripes on tail feathers. Dark eye markings, yellow beak and feet.
In the foothills of Colorado, around 5000 ft elev. Large brushy open spaces near by, rolling hills and foothills. Lakes also not too far away.
I think it's just a red-tailed hawk but would love to know what everyone else thinks!

Interesting Liam, thanks! Do they think Krinder's Hawks are a sub specie of red-tail just like the Harlan's Hawks?
Beautiful! A Krider's Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis kriderii)!
Thanks everyone!
Excellent shots,
I'll have to keep my eye out for him. Here's a link to one that was soaring over my parents' the other day...he was really light too, but not as light as yours!! They're so unique like that! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/939...
Thanks Christy! This gal (it was a big bird!) lives down by you, in the Green Mountain area! I've never noticed her before but I will look from now on! I was 99% sure it was a red tail but then second guessed myself!
What a gorgeous bird! I agree that it's a Red-Tail (faint belly band)...but he is so very pale! Maybe a relative to another we know??? One of the Red-Tails I got in flight the other day was incredibly pale too. Love the photos...they are just stunning!
Nice series!
