White tail deer

Odocoileus virginianus

Description:

This is a fawn that was born last July. In November we heard her get hit by a car. She came running through the yard with an open fracture of her lower leg. She was in the woods before we could do anything. We saw her several days later and the bones were gone, she had some sinew, skin and the hoof hanging. She was grazing and seemed to be doing okay. Several weeks later we saw her again with nothing left hanging off the injury. She survived the winter and appeared in Feb., much to our delight. We call her Spirit , her will unbreakable. She still walks on her stump.

How inspiring! Spirit is a very appropriate name for her!
