Description:

Black and bright red beetle-looking insect with six legs. About half an inch in length

Habitat:

Spotted crawling on a rock on the side of a hill in Manoa on the island of Oahu.

Notes:

It had just rained here, lots of bugs crawling out of the mud, but this is the first time I have ever seen this one

This is a short-winged adult. Probably a female.
