The wings are a rich orange and appear hairy. The hind wings have a large black ring, with a blue and orange centre forming the appearance of an eye. The front wings also have a round circle ..grey/blue and black stripping. Wingspan - appox 15cm across
Flew into the back brick area of a deck , area surrounded with large gums and eucalypt.

I know what you mean ...now looking at the photos of both moths , even Steve holding one ,(he has very large hands is 6"2 and broadly built , hands go with his body BUT it just doesn't show , they are massive and weigh a lot for a moth . My first time seeing one and i got to see 2 , was a tad excitable i can assure you :)
Fabulous find ! It's a pity the mass isn't obvious from photos. I still have never seen one.
