Lampides boeticus
The male of this butterfly is pale blue-violet with brownish blue border on both wings.The female has darker and wider margin suffused with pale blue towards the base. The underside of both sexes are the same, its light brown with a series of wavy white patterns and two orange ringed eyespots and a pair of hindwing tails.
Mostly seen on wings during summer in our region on open grassland forest margins, cultivated and populated land.
The caterpillar is pale yellow-green with a dark band along its body. It feeds on legumes and other plants off the pea family.
