Wall Lizard

Description:

In Cincinnati, aka Lazarus Lizard. In the early 1950’s, ten lizards were captured during a family vacation in northern Italy and subsequently released in south O’Bryonville. Northern Italy has a similar climate to the greater Cincinnati region, which has allowed the lizards to thrive. They have since spread and occur in several locations around the city. The wall lizards range in size (including their tail) from 2 inches as hatchlings to 10 inches as adults. Their appearance varies from brown to dark green with mottling and they will often have a line of distinct blue spots on their sides. Their diet consists mostly of insects. They are frequently found on south facing walls, on piles of lumber or rock, and on the edges of woody areas.
