Western Painted Turtle (Young Deceased)

Description:

I found this young deceased Painted Turtle near the shore in a marsh occupied be Sandhill Cranes, Great Blue Herons, etc.

Habitat:

Marsh

Notes:

Western Painted Turtles have a colorful plastron (red), versus the Midland Painted Turtle (yellow). The Midland is found in both of Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas, whereas the Western is primarily found in the Upper.
