Cicadas are the elders of the insect world. Cicadas begin life as a rice-shaped egg,Once the cicada hatches from the egg it looks like a termite or small white ant. The cicada nymphs will stay underground from 2 to 17 years depending on the species.They then moult (shed their skins) and emerge as adults.
