Kangaroo Grass

Themeda australis

Description:

The dominant grass across much of the basalt plains west of Melbourne, T. australis is a C4 grass more common in tropical areas and grows during the spring/summer rather than autumn/winter like wallaby and spear grasses. If left unburnt for to long T. australis will cover inter-tussock spaces leading to a decline in grassland herbs.
