Eastern Banjo Frog

Limnodynastes dumerilii dumerilii

Description:

A ground dwelling borrowing frog that is dark brown on it's back with a white belly with mottled grey spots. On it's face it has a pale stripe that runs from underneath the eye to the arm. About 10cm in length. They have a distinctive call that sounds like a banjo's 'bonk'. Sounds like this: https://soundcloud.com/nfsaaustralia/lim... The eggs were found in a puddle with an individual sitting nearby.

Habitat:

Found in a heathland/forest habitat, sitting in a large puddle of still water. However, due to the nature of the location, the puddles were quite deep and could possibly be there the whole year round.

Notes:

I don't think it's the Limnodynastes dumerilii grayi subspecies as they seem to be more white than the frogs I saw. It was also really dark as we went at night time to see the glow worm tunnel so it was difficult to see.
