Leptogium cyanescens
Deep grey coloured foliose lichen with large lobed thalli. The surface of the thalli appeared rough and margins were wavy. The underside of the thalli was a paler grey. This clump of lichen was seen growing amongst moss on a tree stump
The tree was probably a southern beech tree http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b...
The internal structures of this lichen is said to be made up of loosely woven cyanobacteria (Nostoc) and fungal hyphae. Spotting of Nostoc http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/120...
