Lecanora cf. argentata
Crustose lichen of Lecanora genus, probably L. argentata or L. chlarotera. Thallus crustose, cream to pale grey, granulose to verrucose, more or less cracked. Black prothallus. Apothecia 0.5-1.5 mm, sessile, usually numerous, flat or slightly convex. The discs are brownish or brown-reddish, usually not very homogenous, rather glossy, without pruine. It is one of the more common of a complex of similar species that require chemical tests and microscopic examination of cross-sections of the hymenium and apothecial margins for certain identification. Easily mistaken with Lecanora chlarotera of which the general aspect is very similar, but devoid of black prothallus. Widespread and common on smooth, nutrient-rich bark trees
Spotted on the sooth bark of a common alder. Riverine river. Reserva de la Biosfera del Rio Eo.
