Description:

A Checkerspot butterfly species only found in the Greater Yellowstone Area. Characterized by the orange band on the dorsal view of the wings.

Habitat:

Willowy marsh habitat on pilgrim creek. Their host plant, twinberry, is found exclusively here.

I love the Tetons, and was lucky enough to be able to live in the park this summer. I still have a few weeks left here, and there's not too many places I'd rather be. Thanks, Hema Shah, I hope all is well.
