Grass Spittlebug

Anyllis tiegsi

This brown spittlebug would have been about 5 mm long. Wings showed four patches of white. Head and pronotum were a lighter brown.

Spotted on a young wattle plant growing by the road. This genus which is endemic to Australia, includes five species and A.tiegsi is found in Victoria and highlands of southeast New South Wales.

Probably hopped on from the grass for safety. don't have much information about this species of spittlebug. But here's another reference
Family: Aphrophoridae
