Description:

One of the smallest reptiles in North America Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Reptilia Order: Squamata Family: Scincidae Genus: Scincella Species: S. lateralis

Habitat:

The Scincella lateralis can be found throughout much of the eastern half of the United States, and into northern Mexico.

Can see with its eyes closed

Scincella lateralis are much smaller, and do not have any red on the face. This is an adult male five-lined skink. And skinks cannot see with their eyes closed.
