Plestiodon
5-6inch long newt like creature. Light brown with dark stripes
The three types of skinks live in similar habitats. This skink was spotted in the dry sandy area outside a park bathroom. When startled it ran into a hole in the bathroom wall to hide.
THANK YOU to all the folks that helped me with this ID.

From what I read it could be a 5 line, SE 5 line or Broadhead. All 3 difficult to tell apart.
It is a skink, but you can't tell which species from this photo. It's either a five-lined skink, southeastern five-lined skink, or a broadhead skink. You would have to examine the underside of the tail and count the number of scales on the upper lip to determine which species. They are all in the same genus though, so you could label your spotting as skink and put Plestiodon sp. for the scientific name
That is a skink, I'll or someone will try to find out which
