This is a red-backed salamander found in south-eastern Michigan. It also is growing back its tail.
We found this salamander inside of a rotten log in a moist area.

Super spotting! Thanks for posting. Salamanders are considered to be one of the animals that indicates the health of an ecosystem because they are sensitive to changes in the environment.
