Hymenoptera
Plants that are attacked by parasites often respond by abnormal growth at the point where their tissues are invaded. The structure produced by this growth is called a gall. The formation and appearance of these galls are extremely diverse and almost always highly characteristic of the combination of plant and parasite that is involved. Each gall contains a single larva which feeds in the gall for about 16 months.
